Hello everyone! My name's Mouri Shin and I only recently took up residence at Larmline Apartments. I'd like to get to know my neighbours a little better, so I've prepared some treats, with my own special spin on some of them. Please feel free to drop by the main entrance and take anything from this spread. Don't worry, they'll all keep out in the open air just fine! Here, I'll show you the selection! [He takes the SFC in his hand and slowly moves it across the table he's set up.]

Edamame (Soybeans) boiled in rice vinegar

Wasabi Crunch - not just peas, but some cashews, peanuts, and shelled pistachios as well

Honey-Roasted Sweet Potatoes

A very plain style of sushi with only egg custard

Fresh cut celery, carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms, zucchini, and assorted peppers

For dipping, a cilantro sauce!

And two drink choices! A kind of Japanese tea I managed to find

Plus some strawberry lemonade

[Kanda is admittedly more interested in the cooking process you have for those foods than the foods themselves, and is examining them through the meager video feed with a highly severe gaze.]

[It's a bit rude for him to ignore the host, but he's never been fond of pleasantries, and doesn't have anything to say anyway. He's not a neighbor, after all.]

Quite an impressive spread you have there... Mouri, was it?

[ Shin, I'm sure you remember this face when you first mentioned that you cooked.

... Because Usagi's totally drooling at all the delicious stuff that you've got set up for people to eat. ]

Ah, hello there! Can I answer any questions for you?

That's me, and thank you very much. You are?

[He laughs for a bit]

I'll save a plate for you, Usagi-chan. Come by at your leisure.

You'll really save a plate for me?!

[ She's just so happy now. That and she's getting up so she can get ready to get some food! ]

Of course! I specifically made some simple dishes so that I could make enough for... oh, easily 50 people, maybe more.

You are just so awesome! Thank you so much! I'll be there in a little bit! I can't wait to try it!

[ With an excited wave, she turns off the SFC. But it isn't very long before she's skipping up to the Larmine apartments to get herself some delicious food! ]

[As he'd promised, Shin is waiting near the front entrance / lobby with a table spread out before him. Along with the food, there are also plates, plastic-ware (western), wooden chopsticks, and napkins.

At her approach, he steps off of his stool and ducks behind the table. He pulls up a plate containing small portions of his spread, grabs a napkin, and walks back to the front of the table with a smile on his face.]

Hai, douzo. ("Here you go.") As promised.

Kyouya Ootori. I'm one of your neighbors.

Funny, with all of the Japanese-heavy styles there, I see no fish.

[ She's holding onto the plate with those shiny and excited eyes. Almost as if she had been given the most holiest artifact in the world to behold and cherish.

But of course, she lets out a squeal of appreciation. ]

It looks so good! I don't know where to start first!

Not a bad eye, Ootori-san.

The principle reason is that any meat or dairy products would quickly spoil, so I chose to focus on vegetables and the like. I'm also familiar enough with Western palates to know that our styles are quite dissonant to many people. In greeting neighbors from all over, I tried to select dishes that would appeal to a broader range of people.

[ He leans over just a bit and points at the various portions. ]

While your palate's clean, you might want to start with the vegetables and dip. Then cleanse with a drink, try the egg sushi, then edamame, another sip of your drink, then sweet potatoes, and the wasabi last. That should let you enjoy the flavors best.

[ She soaks up the information like a sponge. Man, if only it were this easy to get her to study. ]

Wow.. just like that?

[ She pauses for a moment. ]

But shouldn't you save the sweet things for last? Kind of like a dessert!

[ He nods. ] Normally I'd recommend that, but you know how intense the wasabi flavor is. You won't be able to taste hardly anything else for a little while after.

[He's not one of the Larmline residents, so he disregards the food -- but the name means that Motochika switches on video and gives Shin a curious look.]

...Mouri?

*Free food! And it looked so delicious! Your friendly neighbour Faye is down there like a shot, making no effort to appear anything less than starving, piling bits and pieces of everything onto a plate*

Damn, this kid is good...

[A new face!]

Yes sir, that's me.

[Oh look, it's Shuu's long lost sister. He's more than a little amused.]

Please don't forget to try one of the drinks - it should make everything taste that much better.

*Faye helped herself to a glass of the lemonade, and she sipped slowly*

Huh... Got anything stronger?

Does your family have any connections to the Chūgoku region?

That's actually where I grew up, but... how would you know that?
