Band 04 - When you see things through another's eyes [Video]

[OOC: Shin has become a Zora from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Sadly, not enough official art exists of them to make good icons, so I'm just using Shin's for the duration.]

These... incidents are becoming stranger and stranger. I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this incredibly odd. At first I was worried I'd become something that could only breathe water, but thankfully that isn't the case. How else could I pray daily at the coral for Sirius's recovery?

I don't suppose this... creature I look like is native to Vatheon by chance?

I'm something of a student of culture myself, by way of language and studying it abroad. I know the difference between insensitivity and inquisitiveness, Miss Zelda.

What sort of practical applications would you have for them, for example?

I am glad to hear it.

Such objects in our world are often magical in nature. Some can be used as weapons; others to -- I suppose you would call cast it spells. There is an object that, depending on how you use it, can make it rain, can transport you to various places, or even call friends.

Some of the most important objects act as magical keys and seals, either to keep thieves out -- or prisoners in.

I know of the latter rather... intimately, actually, the former a little as well. However, they are hardly commonplace where I come from.

I would not say they are exactly commonplace where I am from, myself. However, as the leader of my country, I have much interaction with those objects that are out of necessity.

If I'd been aware you were of a noble status, I'd have been more polite from the start. My sincere apologies. That said, your point makes good sense; there is a myth I'm very familiar with that relates a similar story.

You have been perfectly polite. There is no need to trouble yourself more.

Though I am curious: what myth is that?

[identity profile] shounenphelps.livejournal.com 2011-07-22 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well thank you for saying so.

The myth goes that our royal family was bestowed three imperial regalia by their divine ancestor, Nigini-no-Mikoto, grandson of Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess. The three imperial regalia are the mirror Yata, represting wisdom and honesty; the sword Kusanagi, representing valor or bravery; and the Yasakani jewel, representing benevolence.

...that sounds extremely familiar to myself, as well. Not exact, but it seems there are many more parallels than I would have expected.

Three comes up a lot in folklore, but if you mean similar items too...

[identity profile] royalsheikah.livejournal.com 2011-07-24 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
Similar items, yes. Though there are highly noticeable differences.

All the same, very interesting. This has been a very illuminating conversation. We should speak again when we're more... ourselves.

We should. I will look forward to it.
